After recently completing my Honours degree in archaeology, I have been lucky enough to work on several historic and Indigenous sites in Sydney and Parramatta, as well as excavate ancient and prehistoric sites in Jordan over the last three years.

I have always enjoyed historical research, and I have a passion for learning about the past and peoples’ lives at significant times of transition in history through the archaeological record.

A highlight while working in Parramatta was excavating a 19th century well and cesspit and pulling out an endless number of artefacts that people considered rubbish. It is amazing how much peoples’ rubbish can tell us about their lives that we cannot gain from any other resource.

Archaeology has the wonderful ability to bring the past to life and connect people in the present, which is why innovative management of our cultural heritage is so important.
