In May 2018, I was lucky enough to travel to Morocco, with my long-time friend and colleague Lisa Esposito from Milestone, to participate in a photography course whilst experiencing the beauty of Marrakesh. The trip was inspirational in terms of interior design, textiles, built heritage, culture and of course, the opportunity to learn how to best capture a wide range of subjects from buildings through to people in unguarded moments. I can’t wait to apply my new skills to our next archaeological project or archival recording. Please enjoy a few of my most favourite photos and if you need any travel tips, including information on places to stay, eat and see in Marrakesh, please just send us an email.
Whilst in Morocco we stayed in two of the most stunning places. The photography course was held at Peacock Pavilions. When you visit Peacock Pavilions not only will you love every minute of your stay, from the delicious food, the stunning décor and the warm-hearted hosts, but you can feel proud that 10% of the funds from your stay is donated to Project Soar.
Project Soar works to empower Moroccan adolescent girls. They provide programs that help girls recognise their strength, intelligence, capability and worth. Project Soar help keep girls in school, breaking the cycle of girl marriages and girl motherhood.
We also stayed at the Demeures D’Orient Riad and Spa, a gorgeous boutique hotel managed, built and designed by three generations of women.
